Just a Geek

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

I am such a geek. I am knitting Hyrna Herborgar from the book Three-Cornered and Long Shawls. I started a group on Ravelry to knit through the shawls in the book. A friend in my knitting group who also has the book mentioned she would like to know the stitch counts for […]

Originally uploaded by Dtkpmom.

Finished about 1:30 am last night and blocked this afternoon. I had less than 7 yards of yarn left. I was worried I would run out, and bound off a little too tightly to make the “peaks” come out as shown in the pattern. I should have taken out […]

Oh Nupps!

100_8825

It’s about 12:30 am, and I think the nupps ate up the yarn quicker than the Shawl Progress Calculator could account for. I have two rows and the bind off left at this point, and somewhere in the neighborhood of 2-3 grams of yarn. Some decisions need to be made. […]

67% vs. 75%

Friday, July 4th, 2008

I had begun to worry if I would have enough yarn left to finish Swallowtail. I used the shawl progress calculator at Rose Kim Knits. According to that, I am 75% finished with the shawl and according to my scale and calculations, I have used about 67% of the yarn. I think […]

Faux Russian in the dyepot1

Faux Russian in the dyepot. The water has almost cooled, and the dye is not fully exhausted. Maybe I used a little too much dye? I cooked it for about an hour, and it has been cooling over 3 hours.

Faux Russian

Yes, here is MY Diamond Fantasy shawl in the severe blocking stage (4 year old boy included for scale). Boy did this grow when fully blocked out. I threaded a cotton crochet thread through the i-cord bind off and pulled the string taut. Then I pinned out all the points. I […]

Here is the start of my Diamond Fantasy Shawl. I have joined the DF KAL, officially starting to knit mine yesterday on May 1st. I swatched on April 30. I started with size 5 Denise needles, and felt it was too open. I seem to knit loosely and didn’t want to […]

Just Get to the Point Already!

This is the Flower Petal Shawl (Free Pattern on Elann.com). I started it on January 8. The knitting went quickly at first. I started with just 4 stitches on the needle. At the end there were 300. Now I am on the 9th “tail” out of 12 on the […]
